  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir briefly to mix.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality chocolate chips and consider chilling the dough before baking for thicker cookies. Avoid overbaking as the cookies will continue to cook slightly after being removed from the oven.
