Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main
  • Three ripe avocados soft but not squishy
  • One small red onion finely chopped
  • One to two cloves of garlic minced
  • One to two limes juiced (taste and adjust)
  • One small jalapeño seeded and minced (optional)
  • One medium tomato chopped and seeded
  • Fresh cilantro chopped (about a handful)
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Select three ripe avocados that are soft but not squishy.
  2. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  3. Use a fork to mash the avocados to your desired texture—chunky or smooth.
  4. Add the chopped red onion, minced garlic, minced jalapeño (if using), chopped tomato, and chopped cilantro to the mashed avocado.
  5. Pour in the lime juice and add salt to taste.
  6. Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
  7. Taste the guacamole and adjust lime juice and salt as needed. Add more jalapeño for extra heat if desired.
  8. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Use only fresh lime juice for best taste and avoid using a blender to preserve the texture. For variations, add cumin or paprika, substitute lemon for lime, or omit cilantro if you dislike the flavor. Store leftovers in the fridge with lime juice on top and plastic wrap pressed to the surface to avoid browning.
