Ingredients
Method
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook pasta until al dente, then drain and reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
- In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter until it just begins to bubble. Do not let it brown.
- Add minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream and stir for about 5 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
- Add the Parmesan cheese and whisk until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Taste the sauce and season with salt and black pepper as desired.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss gently to coat. For a thinner consistency, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired texture is reached.
Notes
For best results, keep the heat low during cooking to prevent the cheese from clumping. Use freshly grated Parmesan for a smoother melt and richer flavor. The sauce is best enjoyed immediately after preparation. Optional add-ins include cooked chicken, sautéed mushrooms, or greens like spinach or broccoli.
